Mosaic plate

Hand applied shellac is a traditional, high quality furniture finish.  It is non toxic.  Shellac should not be exposed to substances containing alcohol, since this is the medium that the shellac flakes are dissolved in for application.

Cherry hardwood often has pitch pockets and mineral stains that are only revealed as the plate is being turned on the lathe.  I only offer plates where these features, as I see it,  add to the character of the piece.  That being said, you know best what you find appealing.  Please,  look closely at the various angle views  in the photo section to see if it meets your approval.  

This plate is made from a solid hardwood blank, turned on the lathe with recesses for the application of a 1/16" thick veneer mosaic, front and back.   After the mosaics are glued into the recesses, a groove is turned to separate rim from mosaic.  On the top of the plate, this groove is filled with a hardwood inlay, and on the back it is left plain.  

 

Your mosaic plate should be wiped occasionally with a cotton polishing cloth (included). This plate is intended for decoration only.  Do not wash or microwave.
